The Roosevelts and the Red Scare

In 1919:

April: Eleanor and Franklin drive up to their house on N Street just minutes after a bomb explodes across the street at Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer’s house —a wave of bombings blamed on anarchists sweep the nation.

August: The Boston Police Strike — the right of police men to unionize is challenged by Governor Calvin Coolidge and less so by Franklin’s friend, the Democratic Mayor of Boston, Andrew J. Peters.
